Defensive Driving Courses Can Provide You With Valuable Life Saving Tools
If you are like most people you have never considered taking defensive driving courses. If this is the case, you should ask yourself if you really do practice defensive driving when you get behind the wheel of your car. Unless you have invested the time to participate in top quality defensive driving courses the chances are that you are not prepared to respond effectively in hazardous situations that may arise in the course of normal every day driving. When you enroll in and complete professionally designed defensive driving courses you can add valuable tools to your driving skills toolbox. While you certainly hope you never need to use them, these tools may save your life and perhaps the lives of others when on the road. Most of us learn to drive under the supervision of one of our parents or another relative. While these teachers are usually great at instructing us on the basics of automobile handling and the rules of the road, Mom and Dad don’t usually have the training to know how to give us the full complement of driving skills that can truly keep us safe on the road. When you complete professionally designed defensive driving courses, you have the opportunity too learn and practice the very same skills that are used by first responders and other public safety personnel. You will get real live experience using techniques to keep you safe in hazardous conditions such as bad weather, unpredictable traffic, and other factors that are out of your control. The instructors employed by defensive driving courses have specialized knowledge and know how to transfer their knowledge to you.A key element that makes defensive driving courses so valuable is that they give you the chance to actually practice the defensive driving strategies and techniques that will enable you to avoid danger on the road. All the book study in the world cannot replace the practical skills that you can acquire through defensive driving courses. Think about it, what is it that you need more than anything when you begin to learn to drive? The answer to that is practice. In order to feel confident and hold your own, you practice braking, going forward, steering, parking and going in reverse. The trouble is, you rarely have the chance to practice the skills that are necessary for responding in emergency situations. Of course, this is a mixed blessing since you don’t want to be in situations where you need to use these skills. But unless you take a defensive driving course, you probably will never have the opportunity to practice skills to use in less typical situations. While you are considering defensive driving courses for yourself, you should also consider what other members of your family might benefit from defensive driving courses. Do you have a new driver in the family? How about your spouse? While it may not be as romantic as a sparkling diamond, what better way to say I love you than defensive driving courses that may save lives. If you are a very experienced driver or you have already participated in defensive driving courses, you can select a more advanced course. Top professional defensive driving schools offer more than just basic rules of the road courses. The best schools will offer comprehensive beyond the basics courses that will provide you with an even stronger battery of safety tools. Whatever your driving experience level, you can benefit from top quality defensive driving courses.

You can find fun math games to cover the basics like simple addition and subtraction to more the complex, like problem solving, analytics and logical thinking, and all the fractions and percentages in between. There are also sites that offer fun math games that involve team work and strategy so your child gets to engage with other children online. If you have a younger child, you can use a fun math game to introduce the subject. Simple counting activities and writing numbers can help the child gain familiarity with how numbers are sequenced and their significance. Once they get more advanced, you can incorporate exercise like filling in the blanks based on the sequence of the numbers. You can also show use fun math games to show your children how math is used in everyday life. You can use money and the corresponding values to work on addition and subtraction, to start, and then percentages and division for more advanced ages. While playing math games is a great way to improve your child's mathematical capabilities, it's just as important to keep it fun. Egar 'Being Bullied'
EGAR Educational Games And ResourcesEveryday children, teenagers and young people are being bullied! Why?Probably because it was accepted childhood behaviour years ago; although today it is one of the most talked about topics of concern among adults, parents/carer’s, teachers, youth workers, mentors and counsellors. The serious social and emotional affect it has on children and young people is now thought about in-depth, especially as extremely serious consequences of being bullied has reached devastating affects with young people committing suicide because of the trauma of it.As adults we know what it can feel like to be bossed around and bullied by our work colleagues, friends or family and we have had to adopt and learn life coping skills to help us deal with this; so to be a child or young person having to cope with bullying is a very challenging and confusing place to be. Being bullied can make people feel very lonely, isolated with their self esteem at an all time low as they begin to feel the power of the bully. Up to half of all children are bullied at some point during school time. The Children Act 2004 – This Act set out the framework for delivering children’s services that professionals must work towards. The ‘Every Child Matters’ five outcomes are:BE HEALTHYSTAY SAFEENJOY AND ACHIEVEMAKE A POSITIVE CONTRIBUTIONACHIEVE ECONOMIC WELL-BEINGThe support system needed, must be put in place for these positive outcomes to be supported throughout school life and Bullying or a Bully is not accepted within these outcomes. Schools now have to ‘co-operate to improve well-being’ and to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people. The Office for Standards in Education (OFSTED) for Children’s Services and Skills, inspect and evaluate how schools are contributing to meeting the ECM outcomes.Recognising bullying behaviour and doing something about it can also be very confusing for a child. Especially if children know they are being bullied, they may actually think this is how life is and some people can and do behave in this way and that it is acceptable. It is our responsibility as adults and staff to stop that confusion and be able to focus in to the changing behaviour of the child who is being bullied as well as the bully; especially if they are not prepared to tell or are frightened to tell someone it is happening.Below is some of the tell-tale, spotting signs that a child is being bullied:-Not wanting to go to school, starting to truant or not socialising. They may become very quiet in their behaviour and shut themselves away in another room, feeling very unhappy. They may complain of not feeling well, have stomach aches or headaches. They may seem agitated and not sure of themselves. They may start to feel sick and tremble. They may not want to use the phone or computer as texts or email notes are sent to them telling them nasty things. These are some of the signs and these are what we must look for and focus in on to support the child who is being bullied. A gentle talk may help but sometimes if the child is extremely bullied the bully may have threatened them not to tell or something could happen to them. A state of flux and anxiety ensues and the child will look quite unwell, so intervention has to be done appropriately for bullying to be prevented! The first port of call as an educator would be to contact the parent, or vice versa, if the parent contacts the educator then they can talk through a support system as to how they will help the child being bullied, putting into place a coping skills system for them, hopefully during this support the bully’s name will emerge and a system to stop the bullying as in an Anti-Bullying Policy, that schools must legally have in place for immediate action to be taken. The Anti-Bullying policy recommendations could involve:Giving a member of staff, specific responsibility for Anti-Bullying work.Auditing current practices and prioritising change to the policy.Developing Anti-Bullying Policies as part of the School Behaviour Policy.Making sure the policy covers all forms of bullying especially relating it to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities along with Cyber Bullying. The policy should also refer to the bullying of staff as well as pupils. The policy should explore all available support e.g. Behaviour and Attendance Consultant. As bullying can be taking place for a few days, weeks or months it is important to try to establish what has caused it, it may be jealousy, wanting to take the attention away from a popular child, or a gifted child who is doing well academically as well as a child who is good at physical sports, dance or football. It may be a quiet child who does not mix or socialise well that could be a bully target. On reflection, staff must always be on the look out and focus into the group/groups social mix and not let a lonely child or special needs/disabled child be a target. It could also be race, religious or homophobic bullying taking place, whatever the reason it must be immediately sorted out and a vigil eye kept on the parties whilst working through the problems, along with professional guidance and support explored when necessary.Bullying takes place in many places outside of school or youth club settings and in each place it is happening it must be acted on in the same way, immediately, with no time to waste in supporting, intervening and preventing bullying. There are many leaflets, DVD’s and guidance documents that can be sought from the DirectGov or DCSF websites or from the Anti-Bullying Alliance website.EGAR Educational Games And Resources will be launching their new ‘BEING BULLIED’ Let’s Get Talking ‘Choice’ Discussion Card game at the NEC Birmingham Education Show in March 2010. This is a structured, supervised card set, an alternative talking tool for educators, mentors, youth counsellors and parents/carer’s to use to communicate and educate children and young people about ‘Being Bullied’. The game has been thought about in-depth and covers the outcomes of the ECM framework. It explores many issues about bullying and gives children and young people a chance to talk openly and safely about it. There is much interest in the game already. The Chair of the London Assembly, Darren Johnson has visited EGAR and was highly impressed with the quality of the resources and has now given this fabulous endorsement to them.'EGAR produce interactive educational games for young people, which are designed to stimulate structured discussion on vital topics for young people, such as knives, climate change and drugs. This excellent project deserves much wider recognition and I would love to see it made available to all London based Youth Services and schools'.Sue Scott-Horne – Author/Director EGAR February 2010. ©
Alpharetta / Milton Area Montessori School and Child Care
A study comparing outcomes of children at a public inner-city Montessori school with children who attended traditional schools indicates that Montessori education leads to children with better social and academic skills. The study appears in the September 29, 2006 issue of the journal Science (see article full text; available free through Montessori-Science.org).Montessori education is characterized by multi-age classrooms, a special set of educational materials, student-chosen work in long time blocks, a collaborative environment with student mentors, absence of grades and tests, and individual and small group instruction in academic and social skills. More than 5,000 schools in the United States, including 300 public schools, use the Montessori method. The Montessori school studied is located in Milwaukee and serves urban minority children. Students at the school were selected for enrollment through a random lottery process. Those students who "won" the lottery and enrolled at the Montessori school made up the study group. A control group was made up of children who had "lost" the lottery and were therefore enrolled in other schools using traditional methods. In both cases the parents had entered their children in the school lottery with the hope of gaining enrollment in the Montessori school."This strategy addressed the concern that parents who seek to enroll their children in a Montessori school are different from parents who do not," wrote study authors Angeline Lillard, a University of Virginia professor of psychology, and Nicole Else-Quest, a former graduate student in psychology at the University of Wisconsin. This was an important factor because parents generally are the dominant influence on child outcomes.Children were evaluated at the end of the two most widely implemented levels of Montessori education: primary (3- to 6-year-olds) and elementary (6- to 12-year-olds). They came from families of very similar income levels (averaging from $20,000 to $50,000 per year for both groups). The children who attended the Montessori school, and the children who did not, were tested for their cognitive and academic skills, and for their social and behavioral skills."We found significant advantages for the Montessori students in these tests for both age groups," Lillard said. "Particularly remarkable are the positive social effects of Montessori education. Typically the home environment overwhelms all other influences in that area."Among the 5-year-olds, Montessori students proved to be significantly better prepared for elementary school in reading and math skills than the non-Montessori children. They also tested better on "executive function," the ability to adapt to changing and more complex problems, an indicator of future school and life success.Montessori children also displayed better abilities on the social and behavioral tests, demonstrating a greater sense of justice and fairness. And on the playground they were much more likely to engage in emotionally positive play with peers, and less likely to engage in rough play.Among the 12-year-olds from both groups, the Montessori children, in cognitive and academic measures, produced essays that were rated as "significantly more creative and as using significantly more sophisticated sentence structures." The Montessori and non-Montessori students scored similarly on spelling, punctuation and grammar, and there was not much difference in academic skills related to reading and math. This parity occurred despite the Montessori children not being regularly tested and graded. In social and behavioral measures, 12-year-old Montessori students were more likely to choose "positive assertive responses" for dealing with unpleasant social situations, such as having someone cut into a line. They also indicated a "greater sense of community" at their school and felt that students there respected, helped and cared about each other. The authors concluded that, "…when strictly implemented, Montessori education fosters social and academic skills that are equal or superior to those fostered by a pool of other types of schools."Lillard plans to continue the research by tracking the students from both groups over a longer period of time to determine long-term effects of Montessori versus traditional education. She also would like to replicate the study at other Montessori and traditional schools using a prospective design, and to examine whether specific Montessori practices are linked to specific outcomes. How many times have you wondered why when trying to explain something to your child they just ignore you or simply find it hard to understand a process? When children are very young there is a great emphasis on learning through play but as they get older and go through the schooling system, learning becomes more structured with less chance to fully explore their individual learning styles. As a parent when my children needed to revise or do homework it had previously been by sitting down with books or at the computer for a certain amount of time – even when it came to me helping them I was more focused on the end result i.e. getting the required work done by the required time. I didn’t truly appreciate that their frustration and lack of enthusiasm may be partly down to the fact that that just wasn’t the way they took information in.According to Professor American Psychologist Howard Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences, there are eight main learning styles:1. Linguistic – Speaking reading and writing, use of language2. Logical-Mathematical - problem solving3. Spatial - Awareness of space and distance4. Musical - Sounds and rhyme, auditory information5. Kinesthetic – Touch and handling6. Interpersonal – Understanding of people and social situations7. Intrapersonal – Relating to self8. Naturalist – Understanding of the natural worldLike adults, children are likely to predominate in one or two particular styles but that does not mean that they wouldn’t use any of the other styles at a particular time depending on the situation. One style is not better than the another - knowing how you child naturally takes in information can go a long way to supporting and understanding their learning needs and why they may be finding some tasks difficult. Schools work hard to try to accommodate the different learning styles but we can really support children’s development with concentrated learning that suits them as well as helping them to understand how they learn best. Too many children (and adults) are left with the impression that they are not ‘smart enough’ simply because the work was not presented in a way they could naturally understand. So how can we help practically? There are many practical things we can do as parents:• The Internet offer information and basic tests on learning styles.• Once we know our child’s preferred learning style we can explain or reformat homework exercises to a way they will be easier for them to connect with.• Not think it odd or assume they are not doing their work if they have music on in the background – this may be necessary for them if their style is musical.• Speak to the school about their strengths and weaknesses. There are many other ways to support your children’s learning styles suitable for their age group. As children of the digital age, there is more scope for interactive learning that suits a range of learning styles than ever before.
International Schools: The Right Grounding Place for Your Child
Children are the building blocks of every society, and for every society to flourish and thrive, it is essential that its children receive the right guidance from their parents and education from its schools. This helps the children build a secure future for them along with strengthening the pillars of society. In today's modern world, schools provide the initiative to provide decent education to children, and amongst the galaxy of schools with varied missions and goals, international schools are slowly stealing the limelight.International Schools usually offer the IB/ICSE curriculum that was once the forte of the children of diplomats and ambassadors posted in different countries as part of their job. As international schools make their mark in India, they now offer the best possible educational programs that combine international methodologies along with a touch of localized essence. With the advent of globalization and increased awareness of the world, children are now exposed to a world of myriad opportunities. The world boundaries are now shrinking and there are now distinct possibilities for younger children. International schools function on the maxim that children are the future of the world. As children experience the world of international education, international schools in India root their foundation in time tested core Indian values. The focus is on a world of knowledge, competence, and opportunity.Today, most international schools in India imbibe an international approach with a global curriculum and an emphasis on skills and knowledge that have a worldwide appeal. Children today deserve the best of core values as well as international education as well as grounding in values and culture. For this reason, the schools are burdened with the task of igniting young minds as well as providing them with attention within as well as outside the classroom. With education in the right direction, children become courageous and develop their integrity as well as excellence. Parents can thus see their children evolve into a confident and mature child.International schooling is centered on the belief that one goes to school to learn and simultaneously develop new relationships with their peers and faculty. The principal aim of the teachers and the rest of the staff are to develop a strong bond between the children and the institution of learning and mould them into responsible and global citizens. Most international schools in the country converge interactive teaching along with learning practices that covers a broad curriculum policy. This caters to a multifaceted development of all learners across the school. The result is an all round development of the child's social, emotional, intellectual, as well as physical development.Children get motivated to achieve higher academic standards, where they nurture the skills to become global citizens by imbibing a sense of national pride along with national understanding. With the aim of nurturing responsible citizens of the future, international schools of today pool in their experience and confidence to create a committed, responsible, and understanding child.
Fruit of the Spirit Pie: A Super Bible School Activity for Memorizing Galatians 5:22
I know you've heard of apple pie and peach pie. You might have even heard of shoo-fly pie. But have you ever heard of fruit of the spirit pie? Here is a Bible school activity that will help your kids memorize one of the most loved verses of the Bible, Galatians 5:22, which says: "The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. This Bible game also might make your kids a little hungry. Here's what you do:You will need to make a pie chart that has 10 pieces to it. You could either draw this outside on pavement with some chalk or you could draw it on a chalkboard or dry erase board or you could construct a colorful one from poster board. It's your choice. Next, write one of the fruits of the spirit alongside each pie piece. There are nine of them: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness and self-control. Near the tenth piece of pie, write the Bible reference, Galatians 5:22. Eventually, all of these words will be erased or covered up. In the corner of each piece of pie, write a number 1 through 10. Have the number one begin with the word love, 2 – joy, 3 – peace, 4 – patience, 5 – kindness, 6 – goodness, 7 – faithfulness, 8 – gentleness, 9 – self-control and 10 – Gal. 5:22. After this, make or gather 30 red circles and 30 orange circles big enough so that 6 of each could fit inside a piece of the pie. The red circles will stand for cherries and the orange circles will stand for oranges. Finally, grab a bag into which you will put cards that have the numbers 1 through 10 written on them. You are now ready to play the game.Divide your class into 2 teams. One will be the cherries and the other oranges. Have one child come up from the first team - cherries. He must say the Bible verse correctly. If he says it correctly, he gets to reach into the number bag and pull out a number. Let's say it was the number 3. He will add a cherry to pie piece number 3. The child puts the number 3 back into the bag. The next team is up and does they same thing. The first team to get 3 pieces of their fruit in one of the pie pieces is the winner. Now, it's important to realize during this Bible school activity that the kids are allowed to look at the pie while reciting the verse. At first, it will be very easy for them. However, when a pie piece ends up with 2 pieces of fruit (either cherries or oranges) inside a "slice", then the word next to that slice is erased or covered up. As the game progresses, reciting the verse will become more difficult. Anyone for whipped cream?
Carpets for Kids - Is It Safe to Use in Classrooms or Preschools?
Are carpets a source of chemical and biological emissions that contribute to poor indoor air quality. Does carpeting in schools contribute to an increase in respiratory problems, allergies and asthma in schools? Should schools and preschools make use of carpets or kids area rugs in classrooms? The safety and health of our kids are of the utmost importance and therefore the valid concerns raised with regard to the health issues around the use of carpets in schools should be addressed. In this article we will review select studies in order to answer some of the health concerns that are raised concerning the use of carpets in schools.Carpet Related Findings:Studies found that carpet in schools, when properly maintained, did not contribute negatively to indoor air quality.Indoor air quality readings tended to be higher over hard surfaces than over carpet.Concerns that carpeting in schools is contributing to an increase in respiratory problems, allergies and asthma in schools were found to be unfounded.Carpets were found to improve indoor air quality because it captures and holds dirt, contaminants and allergens that would otherwise become airborne. When carpets were banned from schools in Sweden during the late 80's, asthma rates in children skyrocketed.Carpets accumulate a diverse population of bacteria and fungi that are temporarily reduced following cleaning only to accumulate to a steady level between cleanings. Cleaning and Hygiene Related Findings:The primary objective of all cleaning in schools should be to guard the health of the kids.Cleaning should compliment, not replace, basic hygiene practices such as frequent hand washing, surface disinfection, effective waste disposal and management of communicable disease.Walk off mats should be placed at entrances to trap pollutants.Non-toxic cleaning agents should be used.Carpets should be properly cared for and cleaned within regular intervals.Clean carpets with daily vacuuming with a high efficiency particulate (HEPA) filter, and monthly hot water extraction. Do not use chemicals or soap if possible, as residues of these can be very irritating when airborne. Call and Catch: A Super Bible School Activity for Memorizing Jeremiah 33:3
Isn't it amazing that God, Maker of Heaven and the Universe, desires that we call out to Him? Not only that, but when we do call to Him, He promises to show us great things we have no idea about! If you have your doubts, read Jeremiah 33:3, which says: "Call to me and I will answer you and I will tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know." I think your kids will get excited about this verse especially when they play the fun Bible school activity "Call and Catch."Here's what you do:Before playing the game, you will want to introduce your children to Jeremiah 33:3. Ask them if they ever would like to ask God a question, but sometimes feel like He wouldn't answer them. Let the kids respond, then point out how this verse shows that God wants His children to ask Him anything and to call upon His name. In fact this verse promises that He will answer us and even tell us great and wondrous things – even things that are too hard for us to understand or fathom. Tell the children that they are going to memorize this important Bible verse. Say the verse together as a class several times, then tell them that they are ready to play "Call and Catch."For this Bible school activity game you will need a ball. A beach ball or rubber playground ball will work nicely. Have the children in your group stand in an open space. Pick one child to begin. He will throw the ball up into the air and you, the teacher, will call out the name of someone in the class. That person catches it and now it is their turn to throw the ball up in the air and you, the teacher, call out another name. This happens 3 times. The third person who catches the ball must hold the ball and on your word, "Go!", he must say Jeremiah 33:3 from memory as fast as he can. After he is done, the calling and catching begins again.Tips:
- I suggest that the teacher calls out the student's names to keep things fair. However, if you have a class with good camaraderie, then you could have the kids call out the name of a person to catch the ball.If you'd like, you could time each child on how fast they can say the verse and keep track of it. You could then reward the top 3 reciters with something "GREAT!"

Choosing a Daycare Learning Center with Voluntary Pre Kindergarten or VPK in Carrollwood, Tampa, 33625
The free Voluntary Pre Kindergarten or VPK Program is the medium by which the preschool children of Florida are taken care of by the state government. In line with this program, the top daycare learning centers have enhanced their child development programs by integrating the VPK preschool preparatory program in them. The state government of Florida has further developed the program with the issuance of the periodically updated Florida Voluntary Pre Kindergarten (VPK) Education Standards. The goal of this document is to be a guide for all educators, including those in daycare learning centers, and parents in order to maximize the concerted efforts toward preschool child development. There is therefore no reason why any parent in Carrollwood, Tampa, 33625 should not choose a daycare learning center with the Voluntary Pre Kindergarten or VPK Program.Another document issued by the state government of Florida to serve as a complementary material to the Florida Voluntary Pre Kindergarten (VPK) Education Standards of 2008 is called "It's Okay to Play in VPK." This is a flipbook that aims to instruct educators and parents in how to set up the most effective teaching environments that can help the children learn the skills offered in the VPK Program. Those skills are identified and defined by the Florida Voluntary Pre Kindergarten (VPK) Education Standards of 2008. The two documents can be used together by educators and parents for the benefit of preschool children. Parents can also use these documents as checklists against which they could assess the features offered by those daycare learning centers that have integrated the free Voluntary Pre Kindergarten or VPK Program into their own programs. The eight developmental domains covered by the VPK program are specified in the Florida Voluntary Pre Kindergarten (VPK) Education Standards of 2008 as Approaches to Learning, Language and Communication, Mathematical and Scientific Thinking, Social Studies and the Arts, Social and Emotional Development, Physical Health and Motor Development and Emergent Literacy.Scientific research has proven that structured play is the best means through which children learn most effectively. According to the "It's Okay to Play in VPK" flipbook, the free Voluntary Pre Kindergarten or VPK Program uses different types of play activities to teach children the eight developmental domains of child development. These activities are done at home, in the community and in the classroom. The health and joyfulness of children should be given priority in daycare learning centers as the children are involved in the different activities of structured play that teach the eight developmental domains. This is asserted in the Florida Voluntary Pre Kindergarten (VPK) Education Standards of 2008. The structured activities should be equally divided between active learning and play and between indoor activities and outdoor activities. Teachers of the VPK Program should be friendly, kind, calm and patient. Also specified in the Florida Voluntary Pre Kindergarten (VPK) Education Standards of 2008 are the requirements for the facilities of daycare learning centers that carry the VPK Program. They should have ample space with equipment that are child-safe, child friendly, clean and in good working condition. There should be an extensive children's library, a dramatic play center, a children's art center, a music center, a sand table, a water table and a play area with educational toys.A Brighter Future Child Development and Learning Center is a Christian facility in Carrollwood, Tampa, 33625 that offers child development services and childcare for kids from 6 weeks to 11 years old. Its daycare program for preschool children includes the Voluntary Pre Kindergarten or VPK Program. It also has after school child development programs for K, 1, 2, 3, 4 children.
Why Home and School ABA Curriculums Should Be Equal
For parents with one or more children with an autism spectrum disorder, the idea of Applied Behavior Analysis therapy is likely quite familiar. ABA is a form of therapy that uses repetitive instructions and reinforcements to teach new concepts and to help facilitate mental, social, and emotional development, eventually rewiring the brain and effectively teaching it to learn. While a number of children who undergo intensive ABA therapy at an early and formative age are able to function well in normal classrooms, sometimes virtually indistinguishable in function from other children, a number of children need continued therapy after starting school. For many of these children, a combination of home and school based ABA therapy is recommended or required. For these students, it is crucial that the two programs communicate frequently and strive for the same goals. One problem many schools have is that instructors are not trained in ABA. Other schools have instructors that are not familiar with current treatment methods or may work in a different manner than parents. For this reason it is recommended that a training mechanism be used that applies to both parents and school districts so that the two may work together to achieve the same goals and to make the therapy more comfortable and effective for the children involved. Parents and schools who share a common goal in teaching a child with an autism spectrum disorder must work together closely to compare data and identify trends in behavior and learning. Only when all data is examined can goals be clearly and properly established and a proper course of treatment planned. By working together to teach the same methods and achieve the same goals, both parties give a child the best chance of success and of truly reaching their maximum potential. Applied Behavior Analysis therapy can be successful for any child, but it must be uniformly applied by all who are teaching them. If one party uses positive reinforcement and repetition while another uses only voice prompts and negative reinforcement, progress may be hindered or stopped. Parents and schools are urged to share a training regimen and class and work to foster an environment that makes learning easy for the child or children involved. By doing this the child is truly given all of the tools he or she needs to function to the best of their ability, and only then does the child have a chance at recovering from an autism spectrum disorder.
Distance Learning: Limited Opportunities for Professional Growth
A conscious choice of distance learning is presupposed by a number of life circumstances. These might be not only romantic intentions to start one's career early or gain financial independence as soon as possible. Some students are induced to combine work with studies and earn their living. Surely, life difficulties are expected to harden the person's will of power. However, the effectiveness of one' learning process needs to be taken into consideration. Receiving a degree and diploma and becoming a mediocre specialist is not to become an end in itself.Rather often people are so preoccupied with everyday trifles that forget to look into the future. It is important to differentiate between pre-conditions and consequences and analyze the roots of the problems. It might be reasonable to use an opportunity of applying for the financial aid instead of juggling one's work with studies. There are a lot of ways out, a person needs to consider all of them and weigh all pros and cons before making a terminal decision.Lack of time of distance learnersThough learning standards of distant learners remain high, they may allot much less time to their studies than campus students. They do not have physical opportunity to spend more time doing the exercises. As a rule, they are exhausted after their working day and additional load is out of the question. Most of learners admit that choosing distance learning they overestimated their abilities. They did not realize what difficulties they would have to struggle with.Juggling work with studies is like living between the devil and the deep sea. One has to reach compromises between these two sides of one's life sacrificing one of them inevitably. Before choosing distance learning a student has toconsider opportunity of applying for the financial aid;set the priorities;have a sensible view of one's abilities.
My Big Fat Mam’!
ARTICLE :MY BIG FAT MAM’! With every fifth person in our society turning obese, ‘Fat’ is a fact that is girdling around for sometime now. A report stated few days back that Airlines are struggling with ‘weighty issues’ on board. This issue will imperceptibly take other professions also into its realm. Thus it was a conscious decision on my part to choose a profession which will keep me on my toes so that I remain leaner all the while and I zeroed on to teaching which I consider as much physical a job as mental .But to my amazement the erstwhile teachers I saw in my son’s school were sizeable than any average fat person. All I could remember was my social mam’ who was so leafy to be blown away by the wind .Even fattest maths mam’ was half the size of the Principal of son’s school. I think the reason for this obvious dichotomy is enhanced comfort in salaried class and over dependency on mechanical modes of working, whatever may be the reason but it’s not good for the health of the teachers as well as their students. A Primary school head or for that matter any head should be agile enough to be physically involved in ‘whereabouts’ of its surroundings. It’s more important for primary school teachers to be able to play and have fun with the students. I am afraid with such bag and baggage they could hardly move to the third floor of the school building as lifts are fancy in most of the schools. There will be no excitement of sudden inspections by a crisply gait giving goose pimples to the teachers as well as students. I think the fun of teaching and learning will vanish with such weighty issues around. A whisper circulating from ear to ear in the class will be the only fun around and the perpetrators cannot be blamed either! It's more of a distraction for the students. On the other hand concerned teacher gets a chance to throw her weight around instilling fear in her students. My boy often petrifies at the thought of his enormous teacher. He illustrates how the teacher alone can bring devastation in the class if she raised her voice helped by her bodily contours .For children of his age big is strong! For me its good that my skinny kid has started binging on food every time he recalls his mam’.Infact it handicaps a teacher in providing healthy food tips and need of physical exercise to her students. The only constructive purpose that can be solved in all this is demonstratiing students how big can be the meaning of the word 'big' if they at all dare to utter the formidable.
Recruiting Students: Advantages of Unqualified Employees
Jumping at the bait of the recruiters' promisesIt is doubtless that combining their first job with studies might be beneficial for students. They may not only receive priceless experience but improve their living standards at the same time. Working experience before graduation from a college might be regarded an advantage for further employment. The question is for what purposes the prosperous companies employ unqualified students. Young people require training and guidance of skillful colleagues and may make a lot of mistakes.Still, the part-time vacancies enjoy wide popularity among the human resources departments of the leading companies. Notwithstanding the fact that students require guidance and attention of more experienced workers, they become more or less qualified specialists in the long run. The wages of the part-time workers are usually lower than the salaries of the rest of the staff. Students are protected by law and some of the company taxes might be decreased on the condition of employment of certain number of students. In other words, recruiting students might become a mutually advantageous cooperation for both employers and employees. Looking into the future before choosing a part time jobIt is preferable to try to guess possible consequences of one's actions. The main point is that devoting less time and efforts to one's studies due to part-time job is out of the question. Making a decision to juggle one's work with studies, a student has to be ready for additional load. It is advisable to choose a work in the sphere related to the field of one's studies if it is possible. Though students lack working experience, they need to assert their rights. Before signing a contract, a young worker has to read it thoroughly paying attention to every detailduration of the working day;salary;functions.

Where We Eating At?
The subject of proper grammar is not always a stimulating one, so please accept my apologies in advance. But I fear our elementary school lessons are in great danger of being lost forever, thanks in part to texting, a never-ending news cycle and growing apathy.I am not an English teacher and therefore no authority on the topic. But I have been fortunate enough over the decades to work with some excellent editors and teachers who were patient enough to stress good grammar. It may be a losing battle, but for the sake of their hard work, let me share some common grammatical errors that would really set their teeth on edge.• Commas and periods are placed inside quotes. Whether it is a full quote or a quoted phrase inside a sentence, the comma or period goes inside. For example: She practiced so-called "good grammar."• Question marks, colons and semicolons may fall outside of the quote marks. "Are you messing with me?" No, I am not. Do you call that "good grammar"? Yes.• A company is not a "they"; a company is an "it." The word "they" refers to more than one. A company is a single entity. To wit: "Acme Inc. announced it will increase the price of its anvils." If you must, must, must use the word "they," then do so while referring to the humans who work for the company: "The board members of Acme Inc. said they agreed to raise the price of its anvils."• Please hyphenate modifiers that do not end in "ly." For instance, "He is the best-known juggler in all the Midwest and a happily married man."• A person is a "who," not a "that." A chair, truck or dirigible is a "that." The following sentence is grammatically wrong: "People that use poor grammar are good at math." Rather, it should read: "People who use poor grammar are good at math." But I am only speculating.• Do use semicolons after a colon, but only when the separated phrases include a comma or other punctuation. For example: Sentences with commas use semi-colons; sentences with commas, but also periods, use-semicolons. This lesson came courtesy of a very good copy editor. To some people, grammar may simply represent annoying punctuation or singular-plural relationships, but it is akin to good manners. In the public relations world, especially, using proper grammar is a matter of respect for one's clients and media sources. There are many more lessons to share, but they are for another time or another blogger. I am certain, in fact, that some smart readers are noting a grammatical error or two that I have made here. If so, please let me know. How else will I learn?
Taking Advantages of One's Actor Talent In Everyday Situations
The world as a stageAccording to Shakespeare's famous saying, the whole world is a stage, while every person is an actor. On the one side, the rules of the society induce people to play different roles according to the current situations. They may play roles of parents, children, friends, customers, and service providers during a day. Some people are known for their perfect ability to adapt to the current situation. It may be caused by one's actor's talent, which may be developed. One may deceive not only surrounding people but even oneself. Wearing different masks a person acquires more self-knowledge, learning new sides of one's personality. Participation in students' theater might have positive impact on person's learning achievements and development of personal qualities as well. Mastering one's feelings and collecting one's thoughts when it is necessary would be a useful experience for young people. Actor's talent is required even for a successful passing of examination or making a report.Developing one's actor's talentsAfter the period of adaptation to realities of college life, students, as a rule, choose some kind of extracurricular activities. It may be helpful for enhancing the process of one's socialization in the students' community. Students' clubs are places where one can make friends easily and communicate with the peers. Another advantage of extracurricular activities is an opportunity for self-expression and development of one's talents.Theatre clubs do not require additional preparation for the participants. The students do not have to be experienced in this sphere. Amateur concerts sometimes discover new talents and cultivate them afterwards. The main reasons for choosing an amateur theatre arean opportunity for self-expression;an opportunity to acquire more self-knowledge;further implementation of one's actor's talent in ordinary everyday situations.Description Amateur theatres provide students with opportunities for self-expression, developing their actors' talents and further taking advantages of their abilities.

MEDITATION FOR QUALITY EDUCATION
MEDITATION FOR QUALITY EDUCATION If food is to body, meditation is to mind. Time runs. We short out so many problems in the field of education which are very difficult to coup up. The problem may be of child, teacher, subject, classroom or authority- there is only one panacea i.e. meditation. Meditation must be the song or habit of life. Think the situation when a child doesn't control his mind and becomes aggressive to his friends, when a teacher is overloaded and torture the children out of frustration, when children in the classroom shout uncontrolled of themselves and loose reputation, when a subject is defamed out of the lack of concentration both by children and teacher, when the authority gives justice without understanding the problem of anyone-children, teachers or the school. All these problems are neck to neck and need solution in proper. As all these problems have their origin from the mind because of lack of concentration and control, the solution undoubtedly is given as ‘Meditation'. When I start my every class with 1 minute meditation the uncontrolled and biased children becomes controlled and they start my subject ‘History' to read with full swing. What's that miracle happen through meditation so that the uncontrolled children become silent and prepare themselves for the class? The logic behind is here meditation is a gap filler, a transition to start something new in their mind. Think the situation when a class runs with 7 to 8 periods uninterruptedly one by one-a teacher completes one subject teaching and when the mind is already in one world that may be physics or math, another teacher rushes with his subject and declares to be silent' and maintain discipline to be ready for the page no so and so of English or geography. Here, between classes, 1 or 2 minutes must be the gap-to do some activity beyond the study of subject. This may be utilized by a small story, song, or jokes. But after every period, telling a story, joke or singing song is a difficult task for a teacher. That's why the solution is ‘meditation'. Meditation is the process to retain the power of mind very quickly and making our mind an equilibrium one. Simply if the children sitting quietly by closing their eyes and give attention to the flow of their breathing process by sitting or listen the music of heart within is a kind of meditation. The logic is that we are uncontrolled and imbalanced outside but once we go inside and watch and connect our mind to the inner world of silence and balance then we become fresh just like earlier. It may be subjective plan of the teacher or children or the administrative plan of the authority, if they meditate their mind for some time and start planning then the work becomes different and creative. Within us lies the ‘Divine Energy', continuous flow of soul power. Even, if an aggressive person comes to take a deep in to his heart for sometimes, he feels some changes. Spirituality and education must be combined so that we will get joy and happiness while dealing with education. A fresh mind is always a prepared mind which is ready for learning. Think the enlightened situation when children are ever ready to learn something with discipline and teachers are prepared to give something innovative. In schools everywhere, we listen the shout, punishment and counseling for ‘Discipline'. But we don't know and even try to understand that the very word ‘Discipline' is all about the work of inner mind. Punishment and scolding are nothing but the unnecessary go of the school. If a child is silent and disciplined from inside then there is no need of controlling them from outside. There must be norms in the school to hold Yoga and Meditation classes so that the children can know what inner discipline is. The school will be a heaven if the children know the technique of how to control their mind through the practice of meditation. Because the perfection of human activities is depend upon his discipline of mind and nothing else. If you are able to conquer your mind then you can conquer the whole world. Now a day's Teachers and administrators are overloaded in their works in schools. It is very difficult for them to keep their mind in stability always. Either they become frustrated, angry, or fall in ill. They best method for them to maintain stability and equilibrium in their mind is meditation. The inward journey or coming towards your inner mind gives ample power and energy to work. When battery-the brain discharges through a lot of work, the only method of recharging is meditation. Meditation in India is not a new thing. From time immemorial sages of India have given the solution as meditation. So many spiritual organizations impart meditation. The problem is ‘we'. Accepting meditation only, our life can be a golden one. Solution is within us. God has given the solution of all problems within. Let's move towards inward journey. Let's not wait for wastage of more energy and imbalance of our life. Accepting Meditation as the boon of our life is the sure success in every field and particularly in the education system. Because imparting training about the balance of mind to the people from very childhood gives a foundation to them to build more stories upon it in future. Homework, Help!
Back in the day, writing a report for school meant cracking open the stiff pages of the encyclopedia, finding your topic, and rewriting the entry "in your own words." Those days are long gone. Nowadays, kids do their research by opening a laptop and googling. Search engines turn up hundreds of sites related to every subject. Sure, the wealth of information can make for a detailed and thorough report. But your child might spend several frustrating hours wading through the links, only to find most of them useless. The sites might be written for adults and too hard to understand. They may mention the subject only briefly and give no information about it. Worse, many sites offer info that is biased, politicized, or outright wrong. You can assist your child by bookmarking high quality, trustworthy websites that offer accurate information in a style and format that is appropriate for children and young teens. Here are some great places to begin any school report—all free. What to Look for When Selecting a Child Care Provider
When you have lined up a day nursery for your child, you will need to satisfy yourself that your youngster is going to be well looked after and is also in safe hands. To make you feel more comfortable in that respect, you should find out all that you can about the child care provider. Here are some of the personality traits that you should bear in mind once you have made the choice to educate your child outside of the home.CertificationJust as colleges and universities need to be licensed, the childcare provider that you opt for should be accredited to teach all of the age brackets of children that go to the facility. Childcare is more than simply feeding youngsters and putting them down for a nap, so you will need to ensure that the childcare provider you have chosen has teachers that are qualified to teach children the basics of education depending on their age group. This way, you can make certain that your child is developing intellectually in addition to being on the same track as other children in their age group. You will still need to work with your children on learning their colors, numbers and shapes at home as well, but sending your children to an accredited school will certainly help.SafetyNot only should you ensure that their are no hazardous objects within the reach of your little ones, but the professional in the child care provider center should be able to give CPR to your children should anything unforeseen happen. There should also be a first aid kit on the premises so that the daycare professionals can fix up any cuts and scrapes your children may get while playing. There are often pools and playgrounds at some day care centers, and you need to make certain that you are able to leave your youngsters in a place where they will be taken care of, no matter what.Healthy Social EnvironmentAsk your childcare provider if you can spend a day observing the different classes and activities that may be provided for your youngster. Make sure that you are in a place where your child cannot see you, and talk with the director about observing your childs teacher so that you can see how they react with other children. Additionally, you will be able to see how well your little one is learning different concepts that are instrumental to their education. You will also be able to see how well your child is making friends, or whether or not your toddler is comfortable at certain parts of the day when different educational concepts are being explored. When it comes to the care of children, childcare providers must be aware of the key elements parents consider when selecting a day care in their community. It is both parties responsibility to ensure that the children receive the best care possible. The parents job is to know who is caring for their children and always remain diligent about knowing what is going on at the center they choose.
Signs that your child is having trouble in school
Do you always stop your step to put your attention on your child?Do you always help him solve his problems in school?Do you always listen to carefully what your child says.If the answer is no, please do it right now ,and if you don’t know how you can start, don’t worry, here are some of signs that you can start. Does your child work extra hard on homework, but still gets C’s and D’s?A temporary dip in grades can be normal and due to some fleeting problem, but a habitual disconnect between earnest work habits and good grades should make you suspect that your child might have an undetected learning disability. Is your child constantly distracted while doing his homework?Sometime a change in venue helps some kids concentrate better tucked in their rooms away from any possible distraction, others have an easier time bucking down if they sit at the kitchen or dining room table while Mom or Dad bustles around fixing dinner.but if these measures don’t help, think about Attention Deficit Disorder(ADHD) a learning disability. Or one of the conditions that mimics ADHD. Does Your child usually does his work, but often can’t find it when it’s time to turn it in?Try some common sense approaches to getting organized ,but if these don’t work, not that disorganization that severely undercuts a child’s performance is a possible sign of ADHD. You child work hard and usually gets A’s. The problem is that he seems overly upset at the prospect of getting anything less than A. children who are perfectionists sometimes suffer from stress-related symptoms. They also may miss out on some of the fun of childhood .Because they are overly focused on academic success. It’s important for these children to hear.early and often, that you love them for who they are, not for their accomplishments. Does your child complain that she has “no friend at school”? If you hear it consistently take note: Having friends and getting along is a tremendously important part of the school experience.A child who is struggling in their area needs help . Sex Education Among Kids
Many of you think that your kids would go the wrong way if they are educated about sex. But ignorance about sex is far more dangerous than sex guidance. After all, someone has to take up the challenge. In the absence of sex-education at school or home, let there be display of audio cassettes which should be followed by video cassettes. Whatever the student has heard and, at a latter stage, when video cassettes are played, he would be able to correlate the audio and video versions.Teenagers think having sex at younger age makes them adults. Never do most of them think of the greater responsibilities and risks that come along with teenage, premarital and unprotected sex. Unfortunately, consequences and events can transpire before teenagers realize the danger and disadvantage of engaging in unprotected sex. Therefore, when they need to start it, they start looking at the corners. Nevertheless, your parents have never made a conversation with you on this issue but you can educate your kids right now to change this negative habit.First of all, if our message about sex is "It's dirty, evil and forbidden-and by the way, save it for someone you really love," we will never be able to compete with the alluring "let yourself go!" and "if it feels good do it!" messages of Hollywood and pornographers.24% of females and 43% of males said they got their sex education from personal experience or experimentation. 20% of males and 32% of females learned about sex from friends. Most of the remainder got their education from books, magazines, and TV. None of the women and only 4 of the men in the survey listed the Internet as a source of their sex education. If we go and watch a movie today it never finishes without a steaming scene between the reel characters. You ask them and they justify their act by saying that they have no inhibitions in showing their beauty or personality. If that is so, do we expect them to make love in front of their real-life kids??? If not, then why on screen where they are watched by millions of kids and teenagers who take them as their real life idols. The problem found its biggest catalyst in the sixties under the guise of the "sexual revolution". It is important to realize that it is the generation of youth in the sixties who are making the policy decision today. That generation steeped themselves in anti-authority rhetoric; it should come as no surprise that they now rail against parental involvement.Abstinence education will always be handicapped in a society that insists from every quarter that free sex is the only way to live. Until our movies, music, television, and magazines reflect a level of sexual maturity beyond that of a seventh grade boy, this trend will likely continue.
Child Safety and Protection
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, nearly 300 children under 4 years old die every month in the United States because of accidents - most of which can be prevented. Children injure themselves in a variety of ways including in play spaces, on doors and gates, in kitchen and cooking areas and on inappropriate toys or broken toys to name just a few.Play space injuries can be avoided in a classroom by making sure toys are properly stored when not in use and the room arrangement is designed to include a variety of activity centers with adequate space for children to explore. Many children are injured each year because of the careless use of doors and gates. To avoid these injuries, make sure that doors and gates are kept closed. Never leave an open door unattended, remind parents and teach children to open doors carefully and slowly to avoid injuring a child playing on the other side.To prevent injuries in cooking areas, it is best to restrict access to adults only, few things are safe for young children in the kitchen area.Toys play a major role in the early childhood setting. Children love toys. However, many children are injured each year by toys. There are four major factors affecting toy safety: toy selection, toy maintenance, toy storage, and supervision and interaction. Some toys can pose a risk if precautions are not taken. Select good quality toys that promote safe play. Consider the children's age, interests, and skill level when selecting toys. Follow age and safety recommendations on toy labels and read the label, as it contains important play guidelines.Toys go through a lot of wear and tear in the early childhood setting. Proper maintenance of toys can prevent and reduce injuries. Inspect toys on a regular basis for damage or potential hazards and repair or discard damaged toys immediately. Teach children to put toys away safely on shelves after playing. Proper storage will ensure that toys intended for older children will be stored separately from toys for younger children and reduce the number of injuries to children.Supervising children while they play is essential to avoiding injuries. Never hesitate to stop reckless or improper play behavior. Always let the children know when their play is dangerous and demonstrate or discuss the proper play behavior.Learn more about child safety and protection. Whatever! 10 Pin: A Super Bible School Activity for Memorizing Philippians 4:8
If you've got a child in the house, you've probably heard the word "whatever" a few too many times. But the next time your lovely son or daughter rolls their eyes at you and proclaims, "Whatever!" to your next request, simply reply back with your own list of "whatevers" found in Philippians 4:8, which says: "Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever if pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things." Today I've given you a fun Bible school activity you can play with your kids to help them learn these important "whatevers" and to help them "lose the ‘tude!" It's called "Whatever! 10 Pin."Here's what you do:Gather 10 empty and clean soda liter bottles. On the outside of each attach the following word sections of Philippians 4:8: Whatever is true/ whatever is noble/ whatever is right/ whatever if pure/ whatever is lovely/ whatever is admirable/ if anything is excellent/ or praiseworthy/ think about such things/ Philippians 4:8. You might want to laminate the words for long-term use. Next, lay down 10 circles in the bowling 10 pin form. Number the circles 1 through 10 in consecutive order beginning with #1 as the first left front circle. Lastly, grab a ball that will be heavy enough to bowl over the bottles/pins. Before playing the game, set the pins up in correct verse order as in bowling and place a piece of tape down on the ground about 10 feet away from the pins that the kids will stand behind in order to bowl. (The reference of Phil. 4:8 will be on circle 10.) You are now ready to play.Divide your kids into 2 teams. Start by picking 2 team captains. To fill in the rest of the teammates, ask each child what team they would like to be on. After each answer they give you, go into obnoxious teenager mode and say, "Whatever!" after everything they say. The kids will think you're a little goofy, but they will understand the reasoning for your silliness once you explain the Bible verse they will memorize. Once you have the teams, say the following: You know, guys, I bet some of you have said, "whatever" at different times with your eyes rolling back, but did you know that the Bible has its own version of "whatever"? It does. It's found in Philippians 4:8, which says…(Read the verse.) Today we are going to play "Whatever! 10 Pin" so that you guys can learn the real and true way you should be saying "whatever."Continue saying: Here's how we play. Each team will have the chance to bowl down the pins. However many pins your teammate knocks down, that is the number of points your team could earn. To earn them, the person who just bowled must come and place all the pins back on the circles in correct verse order. For every pin you place in the right spot, you earn a point. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.Tips:
- Go over the verse with your class several times before playing the game.Give everyone at least 2 chances to play. This Bible school activity is great for helping your kids memorize any long repetitive Bible verses.
